Weaving as a Form of Resistance

“When I weave, I resist two things — the forgetting of colonial history, and the stillness of 'African art' in museums.”

Fatima Diallo is from Saint-Louis, Senegal, and began learning traditional weaving from her grandmother at 14. Her work has shown at the Dakar Biennale, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and MoMA New York. She is the Foundation's 2025 Fellow.
